September Update
ged September 23rd, 2009
Hi Folks, This month has seen a lot of callouts and fortunately very few missed calls. I think we can be quite proud of ourselves because there are only five of us able to respond at the moment and between us we have managed to give pretty good cover. Some of our group have had other commitments and others have still to find the time to do there annual PQU (Post Qualification Update). We have to tick a lot of boxes these days in order to provide this voluntary service!
It has also been a busy month for our wonderful fundraisers – Cathy Williamson from Badgers Croft raised £150 doing a sponsored walk, Teresa Riley raised £100.12 from her display of Coins and Cups, Louise Storer raised £100 from the Longnor Duck Race and there was £25 from the Wakes Scavenger Hunt which included a £5 donation from Chris and Charlie Bridges, Chris used to be a Responder when she lived in Longnor and is now part of a similar group in Surrey. Sue Storer has also sent £63 from Tony’s 50th birthday which includes £30 from Jenny and Steven Bradbury and £5 from Neil and Karen. Collecting boxes this month are good news from The Greyhound at Warslow – £38.37, The Butchers Arms at Reapsmoor – £8.10, Brownspit Farm Shop – £10.66 but bad news from the Village Shop and Cobbles Deli in Longnor where some low life ran off with the boxes. They also took the Barnardos’ box from the Village Shop so I just hope their sins will catch up with them some day! Thank you everyone for your generosity in supporting us and keeping us in the black, we have just had to tax and insure the vehicle which has kissed goodbye to over £1000 so you can see how important you are to us.
Interviews by the Ambulance Service for potential Responders are coming up in November so if anyone out there thinks they could commit to the initial training, which is quite intensive over a twelve week period, and join us we would be thrilled to have you. Being a Responder equips you with a wide variety of skills and is a big plus on any CV so please think about it.
KEEP WELL and KEEP SAFE
