Early Spring – 2010
ged March 23rd, 2010
Hi Folks, This month has seen us busy with training and our annual Post Qualification Update. We have to do this special training day and exam every year in order to keep responding. It keeps up our skills and we learn about any changes to protocols which would affect the way can administer drugs or treat casualties. For example we are having to learn to interpret heart rhythms because a new protocol now means we have to monitor the heart when giving a drug to help with certain breathing problems. We also have regular training sessions with other groups around the county and at our own monthly meetings.
Donations this month are very gratefully received from the family and friends of George Titterton from Sheen, who died so tragically, the £375 will be put to good use to help his community. We also thank John and Debbie O’Neill from Longnor Wood Caravan Park for a donation of £25, Flash Bar Stores collecting box £23.40 and The Greyhound at Warslow collecting box £43.81. Thank you very much, we have had a big insurance bill to pay recently and couldn’t keep going without all of your generosity.
We have some more information about the big fundraiser in May to raise money specifically towards a new vehicle – a long term project! The well known Folk Group, The Houghton Weavers will be in concert at The Winking Man on Saturday 8th May at 7.30. Tickets, which include a Hog Roast, are £15 and are available from: Any member of the First Responders, Hulme End Stores, Longnor Stores, Hartington Stores, Hartington Newsagent, Hartington Cheese Shop, Flash Bar Stores, The Winking Man or by phoning 01298 84501 or 01298 687021. Please come along and support us, it should be a great evening.
Emma Wentworth, who is running the London Marathon for us on April 25th, is training hard and has done some half marathons and a 20 mile race so far. Sponsorship forms are in The New Inn at Flash and Flash Bar Stores. There is also a guess the time competition with the winner receiving a food hamper. Good Luck Emma.
KEEP WELL and KEEP SAFE
