Late Spring, 2010

May 23rd, 2010

Hi Folks, Training and yet more paper work are still high on the agenda for the moment, it seems we are now going to have to have a nationally recognised qualification in order to keep responding at the level we do.  We are going to have to attend a course every two months for a year doing six or seven different modules, produce a portfolio and sit an exam at the end of it all.  Very good for anyone wanting to work in the Ambulance Service and on your CV but a bit daunting for some of us older ones!

The Horton Weavers and Hog Roast at the Winking Man was a great success and has started our new vehicle fund by a whopping £800.  Thank you to all concerned.  Mr and Mrs Frodsham from Baldstone celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary recently and donated £230 to buy some equipment for us.  Thank you and happy anniversary.  The Cheshire Cheese held a very interesting, and tasty, whiskey and cheese tasting evening which along with their collecting box raised £158.52.  Well done.  Longnor Village Shop collecting box has performed very well again in a short time and raised £29.80.  Thank you all so much.

Emma Wentworth ran the London Marathon in a very good time in spite of a troublesome knee and is hopefully gathering in her sponsorship money.

Don’t be put off the idea of training to be a responder because of all the studying, it’s not that bad and really very interesting.  There is also the chance to do Advanced Driving, Blue Light Driving, Conflict Resolution and lots and lots of practical stuff all of which are useful life skills.  Please think about it – we need more responders. Do get in touch if you would like to talk to someone about becoming a First Responder – please use our contact form.

KEEP WELL and KEEP SAFE
