Later Autumn, 2010

It seems a long time since writing this Responder update and the donation thank you’s but it’s only a month missed due to holidaying in the Devon sunshine preparing for the winter ahead!  There are a tremendous lot of donations to thank you for and the support we have from the local community not only keeps us going financially but spurs us on to do the best we can for you with the Responder Service, even these wretched exams that are looming in December!  We are also planning a big recruiting drive in the New Year to try and build up our numbers.

Thank you to the friends and family of the late Ron Weston of Yew Tree Farm, Longnor for £501 and to the friends and family of Daniel Hall who celebrated his 30th birthday with a party at the Winking Man and donated £550 to us.  The token collection at Waitrose in Buxton raised £465 and Theresa Riley held an exhibition of local old photographs in Longnor and raised £82.25.  Margaret Coates of Longnor had a ‘special’ birthday and gave us £60, The Longnor Scavenger Hunt donated £20 and the Duck Race £160.  Mr and Mrs Wharmby of Warslow very generously donated £200 and the Flash WI £10.  The collecting boxes continue to help us and thank you to everyone who pops their change into them – Longnor Village Stores £64.12, The Cheese Shop, Hartington £18.02, Paddock Farm Tea Rooms, Upper Hulme, £50.97, The Greyhound, Warslow £13.34 and Flash Bar Stores £25.43.  Thank you all so much, we have had a lot of bills recently but are managing to build up our new vehicle fund and have put a set of winter tyres on the good ol ‘ Rav’  just in time!

A Very Happy Christmas to you all and Good Luck and Good Health in the New Year

KEEP WELL and KEEP SAFE

Late Autumn, 2010

Not much to report at the moment, so I will just put out an advisory for people to care in the current poor weather. There are large areas of standing water on the roads, and plenty of  branches to come off some trees in the high winds. You can see a met office forecast for Buxton here (opens in a new tab/window).

Take care all.
