Just a quick reminder that in the blazing sun that we have been enjoying, it is quite possible to get sunburnt even at this early stage of the year. Take care, especially with children. If you are out walking the hills, make sure you keep hydrated.

We don’t have a date yet for our recruiting evening but we are trying hard to get a few people interested in joining or coming back to the group. Although we are called Flash and Longnor we cover a larger area and would like to have members of the group in the Hollinsclough, Sheen, Warslow, Elkstones, Thorncliffe and Blackshaw Moor areas. We remain optimistic about expanding the group and improving the amount of cover we give although we apparently do better than some groups with five times our numbers.

Its two months since thanking people for their wonderful support and so there’s quite a list; The High Peak Livestock Society gave us another donation of £265.25 taking the total to an amazing £1130.29, Victor and Edith Mellor from Newtown gave us £100 after celebrating their Golden Wedding Anniversary, Michela Griffith raised £141.60 from the sale of her lovely Longnor calendar, The Kirk family celebrated 30 years at The Three Horseshoes, Blackshaw, with a charity night including a raffle and auction and gave us a monster cheque for £1000 and finally we are very grateful to the friends and family of Arch Allen of Longnor for £350 in his memory. Thank you all very much indeed, we are on course for our new vehicle in about two years time.
