January, 2012

The group has taken on a whole new dynamic with lots of new blood in it with fresh ideas and enthusiasm to take it forward and so Peter and Jackie have decided that now is the time to retire.  Peter has been with the group for nearly six years and Jackie has done eleven so we think they have done their bit!  They both hope the group continues to grow and serve the community and that the new members get as much enjoyment out of it as they have.  We wish Peter & Jackie all the best and thank them for the time, commitment, energy and dedication they have so generously given to the group.

The support from the community has been one of the main driving forces that has kept us going, in every sense of the word and donations are very gratefully received since the last newsletter from; new recruit  Alice Johnson and her family who had a very successful ‘Pampered Chef’ evening at the Cheshire Cheese, Longnor and raised £656.35, there were some wonderful cakes on sale and an excellent raffle, a big thank you to all of the local people and businesses who donated so many prizes, Warslow Village Hall have given us £150, the Elkstonians carol singing raised £105, Pam Nadin and Joyce Port had a stall at Longnor Christmas sale and made a tremendous £340 for us, a Christmas donation of £25 from Ewart and Pauline Hall from Newtown, the odd change you all put in the collecting boxes mounts up, thank you, a last count up from Trevor at Longnor Village Stores £11.99, Longnor Post Office £21.46, The Packhorse at Crowdecote £29.50, The Greyhound Inn at Warslow£8.33, The Butchers Arms at Reapsmoor £27.79, The Three Horseshoes at Blackshaw Moor £15.25, The New Inn at Flash £30.32, Flash Bar Stores £33.52 and the Kidd’s at Longnor Village Stores £14.12.  Thank you everyone for keeping the group running and building up the new vehicle fund.
