Welcome to the Flash & Longnor Community First Responders website.

We are a voluntary group trained by the West Midlands Ambulance Service and respond to all 999 medical emergencies in this area, and we rely entirely on donations to keep this service running. We cover the area between the villages of Longnor, in the Staffordshire Moorlands, and Flash in Staffordshire (the highest village in Britain), taking in Warslow, Elkstones, Blackshaw, Quarnford, Hollinsclough, Newtown and Sheen . You can find detailed history of the area from British History Online:

Fundraising Event @ The Greyhound Inn, WarslowFirst responder Fundraising event

Latest - April, 2012

Our two newly qualified responders Alice Johnson of Longnor and Liz Plant of Elkstones have completed their observation shifts with the West Midlands Ambulance Service and are now operational and responding.  We still wait for our other new recruits to get their dates for training. The cover we can now provide has increased dramatically over the last 6 months which is great news for our area.  If there is anyone who would like to get involved with First Responders either actively or behind the scenes with administration then please get in touch.

Donations to the group since the last news letter are very gratefully received and we are hugely indebted to Maureen Probert, Charlie Barker and Christine Wilshaw from Warslow for a 2nd cheque totalling £272 from further proceeds of their book “Warslow in days gone by”. Anyone who still has not got their copy is advised to get one of the few remaining copies from The Greyhound Inn. Other donations this month include £190 from Brian & Ann Belfield from their 50th Wedding Anniversary, £160 from Longnor Calendars, £10 from Roy & Joan Weaver of Warslow, £25 from Longnor Sports, £210 from Ed & Brenda Cartlidge of Warslow from their recent Wedding Anniversary and £20 from John & Margaret Massey.

The change you all put into our little red collection boxes dotted around the area all adds up. Thank you to everybody for keeping the group running and for the support in our aim of replacing our vehicle.
Thank you all very much
